The building of the Social and Parish Center of Alfeizerão on Rua Luís de Camões was built from the structure of a factory building that once existed there, owned by a Sociedad de Lanifícios de Alfeizerão (Almeida, 1995:184*); The Center was created, as was the parish priest's residence, under Father Francisco Borges, it was inaugurated on July 19, 1970, developing from then on a remarkable social action in the assistance to the elderly and day care and kindergarten, in addition to other activities linked to the parish and the community in general. The new life of the Center began on 9 November 2008 with the blessing of the foundation stone of the new building of the Center, which was built from scratch at number 2 of Rua da Alegria and opened on 31 October 2010, featuring a large property, green spaces and the most modern security conditions.
The Center is an IPSS, associated with the National Confederation of Social Solidarity Institutions, and is subsidized by the Leiria Social Security Institute. The Center itself is dedicated to social service for children from the day care center to the ATL, while a Day Center and a Residential Structure for the elderly - the José Nazário Community Center, in Casal Pardo - complement the institution's social action.
